Jennifer Mikhaylov is an associate in the Trusts & Estates Department at Phillips Nizer, where she focuses on estate planning and administration. Jennifer drafts comprehensive estate documents, including wills, trusts, powers of attorney, and healthcare directives, to help clients preserve and transfer wealth effectively while addressing family dynamics and minimizing tax liabilities.
She also provides tailored estate planning strategies, such as charitable giving and asset protection.
Ms. Mikhaylov counsels clients throughout the estate planning process, guiding them through complex matters and preparing legal documents to address both federal and state tax implications. Her experience includes estate administration tasks such as trust accountings, decanting documents, and court petitions, as well as working with cooperative boards on trust transfers and real estate transactions.
Prior to joining the firm, Ms. Mikhaylov gained experience at several firms, where she advised ultra-high-net-worth individuals, business entities, and charities on federal, state, and international tax strategies. She also drafted transactional agreements and supported tax controversy cases before the IRS. During her legal education, Ms. Mikhaylov served as a law clerk at other firms, where she worked on matters ranging from estate planning and real estate to commercial litigation and bankruptcy.
Ms. Mikhaylov received her J.D. from the Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law, where she was a member of the Cardozo International & Comparative Law Review and a New York Pro Bono Scholar. She also served as Alumni Director of the Fashion Law Society and participated in mentorship initiatives. Jennifer graduated summa cum laude from Fordham University with a B.A. in Political Science and a minor in Communication and Culture. She was a recipient of the prestigious J.P. Morgan Chase Thomas G. Labrecque Smart Start Scholarship, which included a full-tuition scholarship and a four-year rotational internship program at J.P. Morgan Chase & Co.
Jennifer is admitted to practice law in New York and New Jersey. She is fluent in Russian.
