Prominent New Jersey Litigation Firm, Headed by Scott Piekarsky, Joins Phillips Nizer’s Expanding Hackensack Office

New York, NY (November 18, 2019) – Phillips Nizer is pleased to announce that the attorneys of Piekarsky and Associates have joined the firm’s newly expanded Hackensack, New Jersey office, led by Scott B. Piekarsky, a prominent civil litigator. Mr. Piekarsky will join as a partner, accompanied by two other attorneys and staff.
Mr. Piekarsky’s practice includes litigation matters involving general corporate and business law, professional liability, expert review, community association, real estate, chancery, commercial collections, probate and appellate law.
He also has decades of experience working on insurance industry cases, and as legal counsel to community associations and homeowners associations. He represents licensed professionals before boards and in administrative hearings, as well as lawyers in the attorney ethics system. He is also a Court Qualified Mediator.
Mr. Piekarsky is very active in professional development, ethics issues and mentoring. He is a member of the New Jersey Supreme Court Committee on Women in the Courts, which provides education to law students, the bench and bar on gender and LBGTQ issues. On that committee, he participated in preparation of the authors of a bench guide for municipal and superior court judges, providing guidance on topical issues such as religious garb. He is a former Master in the Justice Robert L. Clifford Inn of Court and a former Barrister in the Morris Pashman American Inn of Court. He writes regularly for legal publications about ethics and practice issues.
Mr. Piekarsky’s recognitions include his certification as a civil trial attorney by the New Jersey Supreme Court, AV rating by Martindale, as well as regularly being named as a Super Lawyer.
He previously worked as a judicial clerk to Bergen County Superior Court Assignment Judge Peter Ciolino.

Mr. Piekarsky received his J.D. from Seton Hall School of Law and his B.S. from Ramapo College.
Two attorneys are joining Phillips Nizer along with Mr. Piekarsky:
Jennifer O’Neill handles corporate and litigation matters, as well as employment and healthcare issues. She is a former general counsel of a national healthcare company and an assistant professor of management at Ramapo College’s Anisfield School of Business. She received her J.D. from Rutgers University School of Law and her B.A. from Ramapo College.
Ernest Schoellkopff is a highly experienced litigator with over 25 reported opinions as an appellate practitioner. His practice includes commercial and real estate litigation, insurance coverage, product liability, and appeals. He was also a staff attorney with the Tenth District Court of Appeals. Mr. Schoellkopff graduated from Dartmouth College and received his J.D. from the University of Notre Dame Law School.
