Art Law
Our Art Law professionals understand the complexities of the highly competitive international art market. We represent artists, photographers, collectors, art dealers, museums, publishers, consignors at art auctions and third-party guarantors. We represent clients in resolving questions of authenticity, and assist in tracing missing art and obtaining fair compensation for the owners of lost and stolen works. We protect the rights of owners and artists in cases of copyright infringement.
We also advise collectors on how to structure their art purchases and sales. We draft gallery and museum agreements, terms of sale, and agreements with sales representatives. We also aid institutions in obtaining works and advise museums on questions of donations and deaccession, and we represent clients in litigation and dispute resolution regarding artistic works.
Our Art Law professionals work closely with our Trusts and Estates and Tax departments to counsel high net worth private clients and foundations in estate and tax matters related to their art collections, including bequests and donations.
